Hilton Madrid Airport Hotel you get a 1 star review from us. The very last part of our trip, not so much. Andalucia is gorgeous and we were treated nicely everywhere we went. The front desk did not explain to us the taxi was a private person they appointed and did not say the charges were going to be more than the double than the regular taxi metered fare. We asked the front desk to call for a taxi but instead, they had a private gentleman taking people to the airport which instead of 8Eu, the return taxi was 20Eu, more than the double! Another rip off because this guy was not a taxi. The FREE airport shuttle starts running at 5am.
We feel this hotel is ripping off their guests. Ouch!!! Front Desk said every room has the telephone charges explained in a card by the phone. This is translated to a $30+USD for a local phone call. To our surprise, at check out the next morning, we were charged 28.50EU for the local phone call to the pizza delivery restaurant. Checked the restaurant and a hamburger was priced at 26Eu so decided to call Tele Pizza. If you aren't a member, you have to pay for Internet. Arrived to the hotel and immediately we were offered the Hilton Honors Loyalty Plan which we accepted to get 2 free bottles of water and free Internet. Also, he said the taxi rates from hotels were not fixed but metered. The taxi driver explained that to come back to the airport it will be about 8Eu since the road was easier to follow and we were going to T2 instead, which is about 5 minutes from this hotel. The taxi rate from the airport was a fixed rate of 20Eu and it took about 12 minutes. We took a taxi from to the Hilton Madrid Airport Hotel at about 10pm. This hotel is about 10 minutes from Terminal 4.
